Types of rays and light

There are many types of rays. To the more shorterst to the most longest.The more shorter the ray is the more dangerous it is.

Radio Waves

Radio waves is the longest wave of the elctromagnetic.Broadcast stations use them to carry signals in a kind of code- AM or FM. In AM the height of the waves is changed to carry the signal. In FM the frequenzy changes.

Microwaves

A microwaves are shortwave radiowaves. Microwave ovens can heat many foods faster, using less energy

than a regular oven.Water in foods aborbs microwave very readily. As the water molecules move faster, the food gets hotter.

Infrared light

Infared means " just beyond red". Infrared waves are next to visible red waves in the sprectrum. When you stand in the sunlight, it is the Sun's infraref waves that warm you.Special photographic film and electronic sensors can be used to detect infrared light.

Ultraviolet light

UV light causes chemical changes. It can produce vitamin D in your body. You need vitamin D for healthy bones and teeth.UV can cause harm. UV light from the sun causes a sunburn.Scientists have found thatUV light can also cause some forms of cancer on the skin.

X- rays and Gamma rays

The shortest wavelenghts of the sprectrum__ X rays and the gamma rays__have great prenetrating power. X rays can pass right through most objects.This means that X rays can produce a picture when they pass through an arm or , or your jaw. A special " gamma camera" detects the rays and produces images of activity in the person's brain.
